Props to Badger Herald columnist Sam Stevenson for investigating this issue.
On a recent Forward Lookout comment, Stevenson indicated that he had been inquiring with the Baldwin campaign as to whether or not the Congresswoman had actually endorsed Hulsey for Assembly. The latter has been running around town as of late stating exactly that, printing it on his literature and even announcing her support at the debate last night.
This email was sent to Sam this morning:
“Sam,
Your email to to the Congressional office regarding the 77th Assembly District race was directed to me. Thanks for asking – Congresswoman Baldwin has not endorsed in the 77th Assembly District race. These are both progressive candidates. Thanks, too, for your good wishes for our campaign.

There has been such dishonesty emanating from Hulsey this entire campaign, but this particular lie is really something.

WOW…..When you think Brett Hulsey has sunk as low as he could possibly get…he does something like this.
Hulsey is a pathological liar.
Where’s the apology from the hulsey campaign on this?
Also, where’s his apology for trying to get a coal plant to poison our lungs?
Senator Fred Risser a Democrat from the 26th Senate District told me on the phone that he also did not agree to “Sponsor” Hulsey’s fundraiser or anything else.
This reminds me of the incident where the Sierra Club had to issue a press release in response to Alliant Energy and Hulsey’s use of his past Sierra Club credentials to promote the Cassville coal plant:
“Sierra Club regrets having to point out that Mr. Hulsey is no longer representing environmental interests and is being paid by Alliant to promote coal. However, Alliant’s misleading ads implying that Mr. Hulsey is connected to the Sierra Club necessitates the clarification.”
If the Baldwin campaign now issues a press release correcting the record in response to Hulsey’s false claims, file it with all the others, in a series called “We regret having to point out that Brett Hulsey is misleading the public.”
