There are 7 new Madison Police Department “Standard Operating Procedures” that are open for comment and review right now. Check them out!I’m trying to convince the police to have an option on the website where you can sign up to be notified when they post new policies and procedures for public comment. I also want to know how long you can comment for. What’s the deadline? Last time I noticed it was 14 days to comment. So far, no luck on getting those changes. However, they didn’t send the policies to the Public Safety Review Committee members, so I’m sharing them with you now. Seems as tho they should allow us enough time to put these on our agendas for public comment and review by the committee.

What about Fire Departments SOPs? They certainly must have them. What about a similar process for Fire? Fire too is under the purview of the PSRC.
Exactly. The PSRC has been negligent in doing their job for sooooooo long, there is much to catch up on. I looked for the fire department policies and didn’t find them. I suspect that will come up and we will request the same transparency as the police department is now doing. PSRC is working on their priorities for the next year and the list is ridiculously long as a result of the PSRC’s inactions over many years.
