It might actually snow . . .

And there might actually be a snow emergency . . . so you’d have to park on the even side of the street Friday night. Luckily, for me, that corresponds with the weekly parking restrictions on Thursday and Friday mornings from 8 – noon. This time. Otherwise there would essentially be NO street parking. (And oh no, we have a Friday the 13th coming up!)

WINTER STORM WATCH LATE TONIGHT THROUGH LATE THURSDAY NIGHT.
We are expecting a total accumulation of snow of around 3″- 6″ in the Madison area from the storm forecast to start later this evening.

Salt and salt brine is being applied to our salt routes today.

Streets crews will be dispatched as soon as the first snow begins and we will be salting and plowing the main arterials, main connector streets, Madison Metro Bus routes and areas around the hospitals throughout the duration of the storm. We will also have a couple of trucks dedicated to sand to help with immediate slippery conditions. The Streets Division will have 28 trucks working when the storm starts.

We will make a decision on when we will begin the plowing process of all residential streets on Thursday. Remember that we must first reach 3″ of accumulation and the storm must be either over or just about completed before we start the residential plowing operations.

Please check back on Thursday to find out if we will be plowing residential streets, when we will begin to plow and if a Snow Emergency will be declared.
