  1. Anyone know why there is no income limit on the Greenbush-Vilas loan program (the existing program has a limit)?

BTW — I know it is accepted planning jargon, but I hate the phrase “workforce housing,” it seems to dehumanize, patronize and makes me think of Pullman Village and other similar schemes.

  2. Chromium VI is a potent carcinogen that has no place in our air or water. The USEPA “Regional Screening Levels (RSL) for Chemical Contaminants at Superfund Sites” table includes a tap water screening level of 0.043 ug/l or less than half of a part per billion. This is lower than the levels found in Madison’s water supply.

Why the stringent screening level? Because this nasty poison is a potent carcinogen and mutagen. Moreover, none of these screening levels or drinking water criteria address multiple contaminants such as carbon tetrachloride, another potent carcinogen that has contaminated Madison’s water supply for years.

Despite this, the City of Madison asserts “The utility annually tests water from each of its wells for total chromium. Test results for 2010 showed a range of total chromium from <0.8 to 2.7 ppb. These levels are well below the federal safe drinking water limit of 100 ppb."

USEPA Superfund screening levels are well below the levels found in Madison's water. Still, Madison cites the 100 ppb level which covers Total chromium, not just chromium IV.
