Lots of scattered/random thoughts . . .
BIG PINK
Looks like “Big Pink” gets a reprieve. That’s good news!
HAYRIDES?
Has someone in the Park’s Department gone a little nutty? Hayrides? Seriously? Think $75 covers the city’s costs? And if/when not, why is this a good idea?
SOCCER AT BREESE STEVENS
A good chance to see the inside of the nearly always gated Breese Stevens Field . . . and enjoy some soccer . . .
Come out to historic Breese Stevens Field tomorrow night when the Purgolders host unbeaten Beloit (6-0-2).
East (3-3-2) is coming off a 9-0 win at Parker Tuesday night. The three defeats to East have been to state ranked teams (#1 Brookfield East, #5 Hartland Arrowhead and Honorable Mention Middleton).
This year’s team is exciting to watch and features a cultural blend of players that truly represents the student body at East.
Show your support for the East Side as we take on a Big 8 rival!

PARK AND WALK?
Doesn’t this seem kind of antithetical to the efforts to get people to leave the parking spaces on the street for higher turn over traffic and raising the parking ramp rates and meter rates to encourage bus ridership and other forms of transportation?
WIKIPLANNING?
I like it! Rob actually noticed this one and sent it to me . . . wouldn’t this be cool if we could do it in Madison – it might cost a whole lot less than some of the stupid stuff we pay for . . . can you imagine if we could deal with the zoning code re-write this way?
GREYHOUND – LOBBYIST OR LOBBY-EE
I didn’t see them as registered lobbyists . . . but they appear to be lobbying? Or is the city lobbying them? Its not quite clear.
HERE WE GO AGAIN
But without Thuy? And what are the chances that the answer to Skidmore’s musing “We need to know whether our efforts are solving problems,” is yes?
TRIAL PROJECT TO REMOVE BUS STOPS DELAYED
I can’t say I’m sad, its a harebrained idea . . . Marsha Rummel passed this along to Marquette Neighborhood Association – I presume this include the Tenney stops as well . . . from Madison Metro:
We are delaying the test. We have a frozen position (Planning Manager) and another planner on paternity leave, so we’ve re-prioritized a number of tasks, and the bus stop test will be done in 2010. We’ll keep you in the loop.
MADISON’S CALATRAVA
It was the most interesting comment of the evening discussing the Edgewater at the Urban Design Commission . . . what if . . .
MEDDROP
I don’t want this crap in my drinking water . . . do you?
MedDrop is coming again!

HOW DO YOU GET THERE?
The information is there, but unless you are sent the link, how would you know where to find it? I only notices cuz I got a new computer and it was no longer available in the drop down menu when I typed in complaints . . . but try finding the information from here . . .
FAKE SWAT AT THE CLERK – PART TWO
Ok, so I laughed out loud, alone, when Scott McDonell swatted at Bob Olhsen during the last county board meeting and told him to go make copies of Carousel Bayrd’s amendment to the Fair Housing Ordinance . . . I was waiting for McDonell to reach over and put his hand on Olhsen’s knee as well . . . I wonder if that got caught on tape . . . oh shit . . . yes, I’m still working on that blog . . .
WHEELS ARE FALLING OFF THE BUS
City Attorney can’t look into lobbying complaints, Madison Metro can’t do their pilot study of eliminating bus stop and the Preservation Planner position isn’t being filled while the biggest landmark’s issue the city has faced in years is in progress . . . but we have $16M for . . . I feel like a broken record . . .
OH, THE FREAKING IRONY
For someone all obsessed with rebuilding the Statue of Liberty last winter, and had this to say about that project:
“The statue has always been very iconic for the university and for the ingenuity of its students,” said Hoofers Event Chair Bridget Maniaci. “Hoofers wanted to get it back on the ice because it is a really creative, fun thing that a lot of alumni hold very dear to their heart.”
That pink flamingo roll call vote was just too freaking precious . . . Maniaci, “no”. Dusty sounded like he switched places with Morrissey on this one! But, at least they both get it!
WHAT DID THOSE CAPITAL SQUARE BENCH DIVIDERS COST?
“Material cost $250 and Time spent 31 hrs to construct and install.”
Thanks to Megin McDonell for requesting the information. Even if she didn’t really get a complete answer to her question: “Hello, I was wondering if you could please tell me how much was spent on those bench dividers that were installed around the square. I would appreciate the total cost, including time spent to install them if you are able to estimate that. Thank you for your time.”
SCHMIDT AUTO TOWING VS PRAIRIE LAND
I don’t see Michael Christopher registered as a lobbyist to represent Schmidt Auto. He’s one of the 6 or so attorney’s frequently hired to represent companies. But beyond that, one of the other reasons that Prairie Land was of concern was . . . where they would park the cars . . . Apparently they would park them at an empty parking lot on East Washington on the very near east side.
Well, there you have it, I cleared out my “blog topic” tags, sort of . . .
