I have another day off, can’t let my vacation build up like it did for years, so I’m trying to use it a little bit at a time so I suddenly don’t have to take a week off or lose it. Here’s what I have this morning.
WOW. BAND-AIDS
Wow. No more band-aids for the classrooms due to cuts in school supplies. Maya Cole kind of said it all with the, “that’s not really what we had in mind” comment. Funny how the administration chooses to implement policies the school board makes. It really does them no favors at all. This is really worth a read, and a stop by the school board tonight to testify if you feel so inclined. Here’s some more reasons why you might want to say something.
MORE INFLATED NUMBERS?
So, how about those maintenance numbers? Replace the doors every 5 years? I think the school board members are right to ask more questions.
MADISON NOT THAT BAD FOR DEVELOPMENT AFTER ALL
This still intrigues me. Shorewood Hills, more NIMBY than Madison and harder to develop in.
CONSTRUCTION NOISE, JUST ABOUT COLLEGE STUDENTS?
No, its not. It’s about living by a construction zone and having a few hours of peace and quiet. My guess is tho, the council will not care. It’s going in the circular file is my guess.
MADISON’S LAW BREAKERS
Eh, do you care? Some of the laws have good purposes and some just need some better public education to get more people to comply.
$10 FINE FOR LACK OF PROOF OF INSURANCE
Is this really what they will be worried about as they are loading you into the back of the ambulance, or will this law, too, be ignored? Of course, if you’re an undocumented person, you won’t be able to get insurance without a license which you also can’t get.
THE CITY’S GARDENERS
I’ve often felt they are not recognized enough. Look around, its amazing what they do, year after year. And yes, some of it is guerrilla gardening.
IS MADISON FUN?
I hope its not up to Mayor Dave to figure out. Any idea what he would think is fun?
ARE THE COUNTY AND TOWN OF MIDDLETON FUN?
Giggle. Well, the nudists get to dance. For now.
I HATE IT WHEN THEY DO THAT
Check this out:
Sheriff Dave Mahoney has said he opposes a change to the jail policy because it allows deputies to determine if immigrants have violent criminal histories in other countries.
Ok, fine, he has said that. Now, follow up. How many times has he gotten information from this policy, and how many times has he not. He won’t answer that question. If he can’t answer that question, why take his word on this without follow up? Seems suspicious.
BIG BOX PAWN SHOP
Um, technically, until it reaches 40K square feet, its not a big box under Madison laws, but still . . . ugh.
COUNTY GETTING TOUGH ON TAXES
Including on the little old lady who refuses to pay $900 over a $343.84 dispute. Wow.
THIS IS A TOUGH ONE
I caused an accident just like this one once . . . if the car hadn’t stopped for me, there wouldn’t have been an accident and I could have easily waited for 4 more cars to pass. I, too, was still standing on the curb. I really hate to see the folks trying to stop be injured and have to deal with car repairs.
IS THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY THE ONE TO EMULATE?
Every time I head someone say something about government acting more like business, I think about these stories you see nearly every day now, of some type of fraud going on.
