MABA Endorses Brandon, Not Bruskewitz

MABA = Madison Area Builders Association. Usually MABA, the Realtors, Apartment Association, Chamber, Smart Growth Madison (developers) go for the same candidates. It’ll be interesting to see how Bruskewitz fares . . .

Madison, WI., Jan. 24—The Board of Directors of the Madison Area Builders Association announced today that they have elected to endorse Zach Brandon for Dane County Executive.

“After interviewing the candidates, it was clear that Zach Brandon is the right choice for the future of Dane County,” said MABA President Dan Duren. “Zach is the only candidate with the experience, drive and skills to bring more jobs to Dane County and keep the ones we already have.”

The Madison Area Builders Association is a coalition of more than 600 member companies representing the building industry in Dane County including home builders, subcontractors, suppliers, manufacturers, lenders, real estate professionals and other businesses.

“Dane County is at a pivotal juncture,” said Duren. “We need a leader like Zach who can transcend the usual politics of ‘us against them’ and understands what role government should play in attracting businesses and good jobs and understands what it is going to take to get our local economy back on track.”

The primary election for the Dane County Executive race is February 15, 2011.

Brandon, transcend “us vs. them”? When?

  1. I understand THAT they are right wing, but what would possess, the MABA to support a right wing candidate?

Is it be the booming real estate market or the booming building market since the republican great recession that keeps them supporting the right?
