China is saying that it would have adverse consequences for France if he does meet with the Dalai Lama. Critics believe that he is refusing to meet with the Dalai Lama so that he can get good contracts for France.
While the Common Council is not France and our actions dont’ carry the same consequences, this certainly does point out that what we did was indeed political.
