Martin Street Day Center Proposal Dead? (Updated)

Uh, totally missed this but . . .

I can only repeat what I was told because I wasn’t there, can’t find anything in the news or on the Town of Madison website and just heard this yesterday, after it happened. Apparently, the Town of Madison Plan Commission (I can’t even confirm it exists using their dopey/under construction website)

Apparently, when I had the flu on Tuesday Lynn Green reported to the Homeless Issues Committee that the Town of Madison Plan Commission voted down the county day resource center at 1490 Martin St with 4 members voting to deny and 1 abstaining. It goes to the Town Board June 23. I’m guessing this is the nail in the coffin, so to speak. Seems unlikely the board will vote any differently. I thought one of the reasons they were doing this in this location was because there were no zoning issues and the county had control over zoning, according to Lynn Green. I took her at her word on that, doh! Should have known to double check anything that comes out of her mouth as she often gets things wrong/has trouble with the truth. And I’ll have to brush up on Town Zoning issues. I’ll also have to figure out if there is any way to find out who is on their plan commission, what the motion was and the specifics as to why they voted no.

So, back to the drawing board? Maybe we will get a downtown day center yet? And what will be the plan for this winter?

UPDATE: It was covered by WKOW I find it disturbing that the county representatives declined to comment, why?
