Why are you so happy that problems continue on Lake Point Dr project? Never met an affordable housing advocate who was so hostile to a public housing agency. We’re on the same side, remember? And btw – you’re reading the resolution wrong; CDA will not market units. And why do you say Sec 8 PBV program isn’t working out?
I find it disgusting that the BoE is considering “Giving salary increases to administrative staff, managers and professional staff to catch up with the unions. and 5% when the budget repair bill passes to compensate for retirement benefits.”
I am willing to bet the majority registering support are either city employees or family of city employees.
The liberals will never learn that we cannot afford this.
Brenda, still waiting for your explanation of why you claim PBV Sec 8 program “isn’t really working out.” I think Project Home, Independent Living, Housing Initiatives, Porchlight, and the YWCA, and the households we have helped house there, would surely disagree. Please explain your gratuitous commentary about unspecified problems, or retract it. Thank you.
I thought I answered you in the parking lot. Because the section 8 vouchers are being attached to buildings, the people who are on the waiting list can’t get vouchers cuz they are being given to those who earn the right to them by staying in certain buildings for a year. And now you are looking at limiting the number of vouchers that can be used in this way.
You didn’t even read the report you linked to, and commented on, did you?
How does stabilizing Project Home, Porchlight, et al show that the program “isn’t really working out”? Program is doing EXACTLY what it was designed to do — provide affordable housing for households that need it, and provide stable financing for affordable housing developments. Your snark, while predictable, is, as usual, unwarranted.
It works for projects we already subsidized and are getting more subsidies. Does it work for the section 8 program or people on the waiting list?
Give it up Levitan.
Ms. Konkel only has criticism for progressives who are trying to get things done in the messy real world. In her world it is more important to sit on the sidelines talking a good game (and trash talk your team) than to get out on the muddy field and try to move the ball up field.
Sit on the sidelines, what do you think I do at the Tenant Resource Center 50 hours a week? I’ve raised nearly $100,000 to prevent homelessness. I’ve made 1,000s of mediations happen that prevented people from being homeless. We help thousands of tenants and landlords every year with their issues. Helping them make sure they have basics like heat. Sit on the sidelines? Did my 8 years on the council not count? What makes what I do not “real”?
