City, Town and Village Leaders Cite Commitment to Dane County Values

Twenty elected leaders from across Dane County today announced their support for Scott McDonell for Dane County Executive.

“Scott McDonell knows we’re all in this together,” said Middleton-Cross Plains School Board President Ellen Lindgren. “Scott Walker won’t just be coming after Madison, but towns and villages and schools across Wisconsin. We need a strong, progressive leader who has developed relationships with other county executives and elected leaders in the state. Scott will hit the ground running and work with those officials to fight for what we value.”

Joining Lindgren in support of McDonell are:
Town of Cross Plains Sup. Vera Riley
Town of Cross Plains Sup. Jeff Baylis
Town of Dunn Chair Ed Minihan
Fitchburg Mayor Jay Allen
Fitchburg Ald. Steve Arnold
Fitchburg Ald. Darren Stucker
Fitchburg Ald. William Horns
Mazomanie Chairperson Fred Wolf
Mazomanie Supervisor Melody Moore
McFarland Village Trustee Mike Flaherty
Middleton Alder Paul Kinne
Middleton-Cross Plains Area School Board Member Leanne Hallquist
Oregon Chairperson Darryl Weber
Town of Perry Chair Pat Downing
Town of Primrose Chair Dale Judd
Town of Primrose Clerk Winnie Losenegger
Town of Primrose Supervisor David Garfoot
Town of Springdale Sup. Wayne Hefty
Town of Springdale Clerk Vicki Anderson

“One of the things people love about Dane County is that we have the best of all worlds — cities, suburbs, villages and farms,” said Town of Perry Chair Pat Downing. “I’ve known Scott for years and I know he’ll work to make sure county government listens and responds to all our residents, including farmers and small business owners in rural areas.”

“People across Dane County have an unusual commitment to public service, and these 20 folks are perfect examples of that,” said McDonell. “I’ve tried hard to be a strong and solid partner in my five years as County Board Chair, and I hope to continue that partnership as County Executive.”

The County Executive primary election takes place Tuesday, February 15. The two candidates with the most votes will face off in the general election on April 5.

  1. Sorry to nitpick but I am always hesitant to call elected officials “leaders”. The word “leader” is specifically NOT in the constitution because the Founders thought of politicians as elected representatives. It takes more than winning an election to be a “leader”.

For example, who would ever think of say Steve Nass or Glenn Grothman as leaders?
