McDonell has double the Money in the Bank

Twice as much as the other candidates. Will money win in this election? And, ahem, Brandon, where’s your report?

McDonell Continues to Lead Money Race
Fundraising Demonstrates Countywide Support

Scott McDonell continues to lead the field of six candidates for County Executive in fundraising, ending January with more than $63,000 in the bank — nearly double the total of any other candidates who had filed reports as of the deadline Monday.

Eileen Bruskewitz reported just under $35,000 cash on hand; Joe Parisi just over $30,000; and Joe Wineke nearly $24,000. Zack Brandon had not filed his report in person or electronically at the 4:30 pm deadline Monday.

“Obviously, fundraising this strong just helps us get my message of strong progressive values out to the people,” said McDonell. “But it also demonstrates the wide and deep support I have in the community. I just hope I can take that energy and put it to work for the people this spring.”

McDonell, who has served on the County Board for 15 years and chaired it for five, is endorsed by Sheriff Dave Mahoney, 18 County Supervisors and 20 local elected leaders. The County Executive primary election takes place Tuesday, February 15. The two candidates with the most votes will face off in the general election on April 5.
