round up

Here’s another round of items too small for blog post and not a news article for the daily Konkel Round Up on the home page.

HOME ENERGY REBATES WEBINAR

Hello! I’m emailing to invite you to a webinar co-hosted by us, Office of Energy & Climate Change, and Focus on Energy, to learn more about the Home Energy Rebates that are now available for residents. We would like to get the word out as much as possible about this opportunity and we hope you will attend and share this information with your members. See below for a description; we hope you can join us!

Bring Energy Benefits to Your Community:

Join Dane County’s Office of Energy & Climate Change and Focus on Energy on May 21st at 11:00 AM CT for a discussion on available Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) Home Energy Rebates and Focus on Energy’s incentives targeted for low-income households. This session will provide community-based organizations the knowledge needed to effectively inform your communities about these opportunities.

We will be joined by Brady Steigauf, Community Liaison Manager with Focus on Energy, who will lead the informative presentation. Eneida Hysi, DOE fellow with the Office of Energy & Climate change, will moderate and lead the participant discussion.

In this webinar, you’ll hear about how your community members can leverage federal rebates for energy efficiency and electrification upgrades, and Focus incentives and discounts to improve home comfort, energy affordability, and resident health. After the presentation, stay to participate in a discussion about incorporating these programs into your organization’s existing workflow, services and outreach. You will be able to discuss potential barriers and relay what support your organization needs to encourage uptake within your respective communities.

All are welcome to attend, but this event is specifically geared towards community-based organizations to ensure they are well-prepared to communicate these significant benefits to their audiences.

Register here by May 20th to attend: https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_YUCK2dn7Q0Snnp9eVgi5JQ

SOUTHEAST AREA PLAN – SPRING UPDATE

The past several months, City Staff has been attending neighborhood association meetings, holding public meetings and reaching out to residents, businesses and other engaged participants to gather input on topics relevant to the Southeast Area Plan.

Madison Bracket Results and Interim Feedback Summary Are In!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Madison Madness 2025. Over 1,300 people participated and shared their thoughts about community needs and future growth in Madison. There is no “winner” in this activity, just like there is not one need for our community. While certain elements were chosen more often, the results are intended to show the spectrum of perspectives of Madison residents.

Throughout this planning process, the public told us about many important issues facing their communities such as: traffic and public safety issues, need for more park and community gathering spaces, and the importance and need for affordable housing. The complied Interim Feedback Summary can be found on the website. City Planners have also reviewed existing plans to determine what past recommendations are still relevant moving forward. The Underlying Plan Review can also be found on the website.

Pop-Up Events and Survey Part 2: Coming Soon

A project like this takes continued communication and collaboration. You can help shape the Southeast Area’s future by getting involved with the planning process. Be on the lookout for Planning Staff to pop up at the Pinney Branch Library, local events, and neighborhood meetings in April and May to share feedback.

Another opportunity to have your voice heard is to complete the Second Survey. If you answered our first survey, be on the lookout for a follow-up survey email that digs deeper into the issues, ideas and opportunities facing our communities.

The project website, www.cityofmadison.com/southeastplan is your place for project updates and ways to share your voice.

Restoration has also begun on the north-side of the 100 Block of E Wilson St from Pinckney St to King St. The Contractor will be removing sidewalk on the north-side of the 100 Block of E Wilson St. This will require pedestrians to detour around the block during working hours. MG&E’s work is anticipated to be completed in May 2025.
