Subject: Central Library Public MeetingsAlders,
Please find attached a schedule of public meetings for the design of the Central Library. Meyer, Scherer & Rockcastle have put together an exciting public process to gather input that will help shape their design. After the first meeting on August 5, the architectural team will split into groups and develop four concepts, which will be presented at the next meeting. They will gather input on those concepts, pick one to focus on and further develop the design through the following meetings. Each meeting will be an opportunity for the public to see the latest design work and give their feedback.
Please share these meeting dates with your constituents and attend any meetings you can. In addition, we would like to invite all alders to two other opportunities to be involved in the process:
– On Aug 6, from 12:30 to 4pm at the Central Library Room 202, the Library Board and Foundation will hold a joint visioning session to discuss the plans for Central Library and how those plans will affect the vision for the entire library system.
– On October 27, there will be a joint meeting of the UDC, Board of Public Works and Library Board at 5pm in MMB 260 including a briefing about the process so far and the latest design work. The final design will be presented at the public meeting the following week.
The architectural team will lead both of these meetings. I hope you can attend. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.
Thanks,
Dave
