These photos aren’t as good as last year, my car overheated/was spewing radiator fluid and I gave up taking pictures . . . but here’s a few snapshots of the craziness . . .
First of all, the tenants always get blamed for the mess downtown, but I just want you to know, the landlord made this mess!
The house happens to be across the street from me, and as a television crew and I were standing on my porch doing an interview, they were throwing things out of the second story of the building. There’s more . . . the neighbor behind this house was kind of beginning to worry, how much more crap could they have in the house! This was theirs too . . .
While the downtown is jammed with moving vans and vehicles and anything with wheels you can load things into . . . (my personal favorite so far this year, the Jaegermeister truck! Unfortunately, didn’t have my camera on me when I saw it.)
Some people chose to move/were stuck moving by foot . . .
Others, were just stuck not going anywhere. Part of the August 14th “homeless problem” . . .
Which is a little different than our city’s real homeless problem . . . (mom and son with no where to go, sitting on street by Salvation Army August 14th, 2009)
But the big story every year is about the trash . . .
Which is sometimes treasure, sometimes obviously not . . .
Sometimes harder to tell . . .
But nothing is as frustrating is trying to get somewhere . . .
So those who try to make a little fun out of the day are much appreciated! (And no thank you, I don’t need a monitor, but thanks for asking!)
