Ok, this is a bit of a geeky matter, but we should see some very real improvement to the city channel on-line presence. They’ve crawled out of the cave they were in and moved forward . .. . check it out!

Please take the time to check out the new City Channel website: www.cityofmadison.com/citychannel. This was a collaborative effort within IT between the Madison City Channel team and the Web team. I would like to thank both teams for their work on the website; they are a very talented group of individuals.
New features:
· Real Player is gone, we are now using Windows Media Player
· Searchable video library
· Ability to integrate video library database into other City websites (such as the Common Council website)
· Updated design
· Interactive program schedule:
o Ability to view two months ahead and past
o Detailed show and episode information
o Direct access to programming
· Improve indexing on the Madison Common Council meetings will begin on May 17

You don’t need to know what that all means specifically, just know, this is HUGE. More infornation will be more accessible and more immediately available and easier to use. And it will help the blog as well, no more need to TiVo it and when I miss something they taped, I can immediately go find it on-line after the meeting. This is good. VERY good.
Too bad WYOU didn’t have the same resources and could do the same, but that’s a whole different matter! We’re gonna have to stay in our cave.
