Subject: Transition UpdateTo Alders:
I want to give you a brief update on our early progress with the Overture transition. Much work is already underway and we are confident that we will meet the deadlines and necessary milestones in the next year.
A transition team has been established that will meet weekly to monitor progress. The committee includes Ald. Mark Clear, Janet Piraino, Linda Baldwin, Deirdre Garton, Brad Wirtz, Dean Brasser, Patricia Lauten and me. There are several other sub committees that will work on specific areas, including legal, IT, Finance, collective bargaining and staff advisory, among others.
On the 201 side, much activity will be taking place with new board members coming on later this month. There will also be changes in by-laws, an official name change to the Overture Center Foundation, and concentrated fundraising for the transition. 201’s next meeting takes place on Tuesday, January 25 at 4:00 PM in the Overture Boardroom.
Most importantly, we recently hired Anika Wright, who will serve as our transition manager. She comes to us under contract with QTI and the 201 State Foundation. Anika has much experience in the private sector in change management and human resources, and is already meeting staff, board and City personnel. Anika is charged with managing the many “tracks” of the transition with the transition team and the sub-committees. Anika will be working closely with City HR and Overture employees to ensure a smooth changeover. I am sure in the coming months you will have an opportunity to meet Anika.
We have started off the year hitting the ground running, and there is much excitement and energy looking forward to the task ahead. We will soon have a detailed master timeline and will share that with you when it is ready.
Thanks for your ongoing commitment to Overture and its future. We look forward to keeping you up-to-date on our progress.
All best,
TOM CARTO
