All –

Important information to pass along to those you know who may be participating in various protests/demonstrations:

While many think of “resisting police” as a more active, combative response to police attempts to take someone into custody or to physically escort them from an area, please understand that those more “passive” responses such as going limp, collapsing legs/refusing to walk, such that officers need to lift someone up from a seated or lying position and drag them from point A to point B are still considered resisting and will be treated thusly. This means, that for individuals who behave in this way upon police attempts to escort them away and/or issue them a citation away from the immediate area they will be arrested and charged criminally with resisting as opposed to merely receiving a City Ordinance citation.

In short, SET officers will be charging criminally those who actively or passively resist as described above so please explain this to all whom you are guiding through the various protests. Resisting is the key word for both types of responses.

And on a safety note: We have received information from reliable sources that threats to shoot and kill officers have been made. One such threat involves purported statements from gang members/associates that they intend to “riot” immediately following the DA announcement and that threats to “attack” and to “kill the first cop” seen have also been levied.
