On wells for the near east side of Madison. Water Utility still not really getting public participation done very well (no pun intended).
Two weeks ago, this email was sent out.

Subject: Save the Dates : Well 3 Replacement Public Meeting 1-26-12 & Well 7 & 8 Filtration Public Meeting 1-31-12Greetings Alders, CAP members and other interested citizens. (please forward this message along to any I may have missed)
Please see the attached announcement that is going out in the mail this week.
Please mark Thursday January 26, 2012 on your calendars and plan to join us at the Goodman Community Center @ 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. to discuss re-establishing the Citizen’s Advisory Committee to site a new east side municipal well to replace Well 3.
Please mark Tuesday January 31, 2012 on your calendars and plan to join us at the Goodman Community Center @ 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. to discuss establishing the Citizen’s Advisory Committee to develop two projects to construct filters at Wells 7 & 8.
An agenda is being developed for both meetings and will include a presentation and discussion of project background and objectives and a plan to move forward.
Watch for the attached mailing and spread the word.
Thanks and I hope to see you at one or both of these meetings.
I don’t see anything on the weekly meetings schedule this week.
And I haven’t seen any other invitations to the meetings on any listserves I’m on for the near east neighborhoods. I’m pretty sure I didn’t get a post card at home or work about these meetings.
I was the one who forwarded that email to the James Madison Park and Tenney Lapham Neighborhood. When I did that, it was quickly pointed out that this is planned during the TLNA meeting and dinner. So I asked Alder Rummel if she was involved in the planning and she told me that was the first she heard of it and has conflict for both meetings.
So where does this leave us? The meeting is on Thursday – I don’t know what the agenda is, and it sounds like many people who might be interested won’t be there. It’s unfortunate as water is one of those issues that really gets people concerned and siting well 3 is near impossible and if we want to keep building density downtown we have to have water. Right?
Here’s a little on our attempts from 2007. Couldn’t find a map of the areas for some reason. If I find it, will post it here.
