Filing deadline for candidates is January 7th, question is, does anyone in Madison even know? Or care? Only 7 races in of 37 districts. Lack of candidates in Madison districts sticks out to me, there are candidates in the outlying areas. Lack of talk of this election coming up seems really eerie to me. Candidates? Anyone want to challenge incumbents? All is well? Nothing to see here? All is good? Maybe? The county board seems more progressive than the city council, so maybe everyone is happy. I tend to think that the county board gets very little to no media coverage – therefore no one knows what is going on or why they would want to run. I guess we’ll be spending $80 – 120 million dollars on a new jail despite our racial disparities record or that we just built a new jail 20 years ago. Head in the sand human services to continue with lip service to fighting poverty and homelessness. Just jail ’em! (Elected official complaints about that statement can be made in person at the winter warming center for persons experiencing homelessness, weekdays and Saturday 7 – 9 am and on Sunday morning 7am – 1pm. Or winter evenings when it is above 20 degrees at the emergency shelter for persons experiencing homelessness who have used up their 60 days in shelter.)
