ShareFest: Celebrating a Sharing Economy

Join Dane County TimeBank and Madison Free Skool in celebrating a sharing economy at a fun, free community event filled with food and many activities. Featuring all evening: a potluck (along with grilled items being served by TimeBank members), refreshing beverages, a Stuff Swap, plant and seed exchange, listening booth, future connections info, hula hooping, jump rope, chalk art, and hourly skill share workshops.
Help us to reduce waste by bringing your own cup, silverware, and plate. Earn TimeBank Hours helping with set-up, clean-up, or throughout the event. For more information – info@danecountytimebank.org or 608-663-0400.
Stuff Swap Rules:
1. Put your clothing in the clothing pile, books in the book area, etc.
2. Take items that are approximately equal in value to the items you brought.
3. All items must be useable, non-toxic, non-hazardous, and clean!
4. Suggested items are: books, clothing, household items, sporting goods, and toys.

Ride the Drive Volunteers Needed

The City of Madison and Madison Parks are pleased to bring Ride the Drive, presented by Trek, back for its sixth year! We will be hosting Ride the Drive-Downtown on June 1st from 10:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. and Ride the Drive Eastside August 24th from 10:00a.m. – 3:00p.m.
100 More Volunteers Needed for Ride the Drive
The event is now 1.5 weeks away, and we still need about 100 more volunteers – mostly for the very important job of Intersection Guide.
Benefits of volunteering for Ride the Drive:
· Being a part of the coolest event in Madison.
· Getting the newest Ride the Drive t-shirt – just for volunteering for a few hours!
· Seeing thousands of smiling faces – knowing that you are a part of that great experience.
· And after your volunteer shift, you get to spend the rest of the day showing off your cool RTD volunteer t-shirt while riding your bike around the event.

What is Ride the Drive?
Ride the Drive is a carefree, car free event that turns Madison’s signature streets into a public promenade that is open to cyclists, walkers, rollerbladers, and those out to share in the experience and fun atmosphere. These popular events have drawn over 20,000 attendees. Ride the Drive is more than just a bike ride – with activities and fun stopping points along the way – there is something for everyone.
The Downtown route will be the same as year’s past, featuring the iconic streets downtown is known for, including Capitol Square, East Washington, and John Nolen Drive. Also like last year, there will be four different “villages” attendees can stop at along the five mile loop, with activity and information booths sponsored by area organizations.
The Eastside Ride the Drive will have more of a Block Party feel, highlighting the neighborhoods near Olbrich Botanical Gardens. Complete maps of the routes can be found on the Ride the Drive Website.

MMSD Free Summer Meals
MMSD will be providing free meals during summer vacation to students and families who qualify for Free/Reduced Price Lunch due to low household income.
There are many sites for this program: locations include 14 schools; 5 parks & camps; 19 apartment complexes & community centers; and 3 Child Care Sites around Madison. As many of our students live in a state of “food insecurity” … here is a resource to offer a bit of help to these young people and their families.

Dog/Cat Vaccination Clinic
Shelter From The Storm/Spay Me Clinic will be holding a free rabies vaccination clinic on Saturday, May 31st in the parking lot of NorthSide Towne Center from 11 a.m til 2:00 p.m. There will be other free supplies (food, collars, animal ID tags) available and also vouchers for spay/neuter of dogs and cats.
