No, I wasn’t shooting my mouth off, or remarking (in what I thought was a private conversation) that someone could lick my hairy arm pits! 🙂
But I did . . . not check some facts I should have checked. In a recent post I repeated the Mayor’s claim that:
The latest data from the Department of Workforce Development show that a remarkable 3,000 new jobs were created in Madison in the past 12 months alone.
And, I should have double-checked the numbers. I know better. I did find the press release where the Mayor or his staff likely got the numbers they used. But I noticed three little words that make a big difference . . .
Madison MSA
What is that you ask? Well MSA stands for Metropolitan Statistical Area, i.e. not only the City of Madison, but the Metro Area. In this case, the DWD has a MSA map that defines the Madison MSA as Dane County.
My bad. My apologies. That was just sloppy. Now, if I can only figure out a way to get some accurate numbers, if they exist.
