Round Up! Day Two.

Could this be a trend? Is it back? We’ll see, but I’m going to try. Always so much to blog, so little time.

COUNTY BOARD PASSES THEIR BUDGET
Did anyone notice?

MORE SPRING COUNCIL CANDIDATES
Kyle Szarzynski has will announce today he is running for District 8, Bryon Eagon’s seat. Eagon has decided if he is running again. If Eagon doesn’t run Scott Resnick will also run. Sam Stevenson is gearing up to run against Bridget Maniaci in the 2nd district. It is also widely rumored that one time supporter Richard Linster will also be running against her. And I’m guessing there may be even more. Here’s the Badger Herald and Daily Cardinal take on the story.

MANIACI TAKEN TO TASK
No fans here.

AND MORE COUNTY EXEC CANDIDATES, MAYBE
Joe Parisi is considering a run. Cap Times thinks a crowded race is a good thing!

GOVERNMENT SHOULD CUT JOBS IN THIS ECONOMY?
Yes, jobs don’t matter unless they are in the private sector and the private sector is making money off them. Some of these folks talking about jobs have different motivations.

UH-OH, I AGREE WITH THE CRANKY OLD GUY AGAIN!
Yeah, the descriptions of the horrors of people trapped on the boat were a little strange. Maybe I shouldn’t do the round up, it will ruin my reputation! And Morrissey’s!

TOMOTHERAPY . . . NOT SO GOLDEN ANY MORE
Remember how Madison HAD TO invest in this group or they wouldn’t come here, then they didn’t take our money. Now, they got busted not being honest with their investors.

BLASKA COULD LEARN SOMETHING FROM THIS PROFESSOR
But he won’t.

WHAT COULD WE DO WITH $10M?
Instead of spending it on elections? I guess it was a good investment for the republicans.

DUDE, YOU’RE A LAWYER, YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER
And, uh, who needs a three story pier? I guess some people think they can just do whatever they want. And what’s wrong with the construction folks who should also know better?

THIRD TIME’S A CHARM?
Gee – no suspense here. Who do you think he will pick . . . given his preference for ex-state employees.

Cieslewicz will interview Steven Cover, senior vice president at Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum, a private company in Atlanta, and former commissioner of the Atlanta Department of Planning and Community Development, and Aaron Olver, Wisconsin’s secretary of Commerce and former official in the campaign and transitions teams of Gov. Jim Doyle.

NEW WINTER PARKING WEBSITE – NOW WITH “TWEETS ON TWITTER”

New Winter Parking Web Page Debuts

The City of Madison today unveiled a new winter web portal that will serve as a one stop destination for residents seeking the latest information on winter parking rules and snow plowing operations.

“The new winter web page has been completely redesigned to be more user friendly and informative,” Streets Division spokesperson George Dreckmann said. “Residents will find all of the information they need to avoid a parking ticket this winter.”

The new web page can be found at www.cityofmadison.com/winter. Once you get to the page residents will find a new winter parking calculator that will allow them to enter the date they will be parking and get the correct side of the street on which to park. You can also get connected to the City of Madison’s Facebook page.

“On the new web site residents can sign up to receive snow emergency e-mails, text messages, and new this year Tweets on Twitter,” Dreckmann said. “You can also sign up for Snow Plow Updates that will give you the latest information on how the Streets Division is handling plowing operations.”

In addition to information on winter parking and snow removal operations, the new winter web page has lots of information on fun things to do during Madison’s winter. You’ll find up to date information on sledding, cross country skiing and ice skating. The site also features updates on activities at Olbrich Gardens, Monona Terrace, and the Madison Senior Center.

“We have also included information on safe winter driving and biking, snow shoveling requirements, and our mailbox replacement policy,” Dreckmann concluded.
