Governor Scott Walker appears to have been correct when he said:
“We’re Broke and Can’t Negotiate.”
Unfortunately the members of the legislature did not get that memo. The legislature continues to collectively bargain with that union of businesses better known as
Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce (WMC).
In recent days, the Joint Finance Committee, chaired by Robin Vos, gave hundreds of millions of dollars to the members of WMC. They voted to give the members of WMC an $84 million dollar tax break. (while at the same time cutting the Earned Income Tax Credit. Then yesterday with the help of our friend Glenn Grothman, the JFC gave away another few hundred million taxpayer dollars!
So Governor Walker was right! Collective bargaining is hurting us, he just had the culprits wrong.
It is time to break up the WMC, once and for all. The fiscal future of Wisconsin depends on it!
