Well, ok. Let’s see how this works out.

SNOW PLOWING UPDATES

Over 4″ of snow is still predicted to accumulate during the rest of this afternoon and during the overnight hours. There is then expected to be a lull in snowfall before the larger of the two storms arrives during the afternoon on Tuesday.

We will continue to focus our plowing and salting efforts, as usual, on all the streets that make up our salt routes during the remainder of this afternoon and up until midnight.

At midnight, we will focus our attention on just the major arterials. Streets such as E. Washington Ave., Hwy. 113, University Ave., and Mineral Point Rd., to name a few will continue to be plowed and salted. The lesser travelled streets that are normally salted will receive less work from midnight until 4:00 am.

At 4:00 am, a full scale plowing of all 769 miles of residential streets will commence so that we can clear the streets prior to the second storm of the week hitting the area. We hope to have all the residential streets plowed by 2:00 pm in time for us to begin salting and plowing the salt routes all over again.

We will not be declaring a Snow Emergency during the overnight hours tonight but do expect to declare one later in the week after the second half of the storm is over.

Plans should still be made for slow commutes for this afternoon, Tuesday morning and afternoon as well as both Wednesday’s commutes. We are also concerned that the falling temperatures on Wednesday night, that will render salt use totally ineffective, may leave the main streets with some unmelted snow and ice on them after they are plowed after the second storm is over. If this occurs, the timeframe should be short as warmer temperatures are expected later in the week which will allow salt to work.
