It just gets worse and worse. Check this out – Alder Maniaci’s last minute proposal for the James Madison Park Neighborhood was sent to EVERYONE, except the neighborhood.
This is the email she sent out less than 30 minutes before the plan commission last night and all the people that it went to. Somehow, she was unable to add two more email addresses – jamesmadisonparkneighborhood@yahoogroups.com and tlna@yahoogroups.com.

The document attached is here. It was unanimously shot down by the plan commission last night, but that doesn’t mean she won’t try again at the council.
And, just so you know, I showed up last night at the plan commission meeting. Got a copy of the proposal but left, cuz I didn’t have hours to sit there – they were on number 5 an hour into the meeting. As I was leaving, I ran into my dear alder, and I had the proposal in my hand. She saw it and said “oh, did you get a copy of the proposal”. I kept walking while saying “does no good to give your constituents information after the public input on an item” and left. Of course letters to the plan commission may have inaccurate information if that information isn’t available to the public.
I was an alder for 8 years. There were a few of my constituents that I didn’t like so much and disagreed with often. But . . . I believed in open government and being fair. If I were in her position, I would have sent this info to the neighborhood listserves – even knowing that people might not like it. I would have held a neighborhood meeting on something this big. You can’t have a decent discussion without doing so and my colleagues would have killed me if I didn’t have this neighborhood discussion first and brought it to the council floor. And of course, I would have expected the same result at the plan commission without that process. These are just basics of doing your job.
Any chance this was just a simple mistake? Why attribute malicious motives?
