UPCOMING HOUSING LAW SEMINARS
** NEW WI LAW CHANGES SINCE DEC. 2011**Do you want or need to learn about all the tenant/housing law changes that occurred this past December and March? The Tenant Resource Center (TRC) has organized and will be presenting a Spring Seminar Series covering all these law changes, and thorough information on the other laws and related housing issues currently confronting tenants and landlords statewide. Registrations are still being accepted for five, identical, comprehensive one-day housing law seminars being held this month of May, in Milwaukee, Janesville, La Crosse, Appleton and Stevens Point. There will also be a 1.5 day seminar in Madison.
Enrollment in all the seminars is open to all people, agencies and businesses that work with or are involved in any way with rental housing. This includes landlords, property managers, caseworkers/counselors, advocates, attorneys, building inspectors, and law enforcement officers. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the laws, liabilities and issues that can arise in rental housing. Participants will receive a set of the Tenant Resource Center’s brochures, a packet of training handouts and a Housing Counselor Training Guide Binder. These are the same materials that the TRC uses in its own office to train housing counselors.
The seminar schedule is as follows:
• Milwaukee — Fri. May 4 at IndependenceFirst, 504 S. First St.
• Madison — Tues. May 8-Wed. 9th at Dane County Job Center, Ballroom, 1819 Aberg Ave.
• Janesville — Fri. May 11 at Rock County Job Center, Room J, 1900 Center Ave.

Konkel, Executive Director of TRC since 1995 and has been key to TRC’s mission since 1991. She earned her Juris Doctorate from UW-Madison Law School.
Each seminar will last from 8:30-4:00 with a break for lunch. Lunch is not provided, although some refreshments will be provided in the morning and the afternoon. Due to more extended local laws, Madison’s seminar will continue for another half day on 5/9 from 8:30 to noon.
Tuition for the seminars is $125 per person (except $150 in Madison) for those who have pre-registered. Walk-in registration is $145 ($170 Madison). If three or more people from the same agency pre-register the cost is $100 per person ($125 Madison). Pre-registration is strongly recommended to ensure availability of space and materials for all attending.
