I had to look for work anyways . . . so here it is . . . things of interest at the county . . . Let me just say, this is annoying. First you go here to see what meetings there are this week. Then you go here to figure out what agendas are easily available. Very few have the materials attached that you would want to see to figure out if the items are of interest. Then, if you want to dig deeper, which admittedly, I did not do, you could try to figure out here, if there is more information available. Or you can use their “legislative tracking system” here or look in this crazy document here. I was able to post this in 40 minutes, but that’s as much time and effort as I had. There may be other items of interest, its just hard to tell. I was looking for budget related discussions, which is what got me started looking and I thought I’d share my efforts, since they don’t have a budget schedule like the city has.
MONDAY, OCTOBER 5, 2009
4:00 p.m. IMMIGRATION TASK FORCE…Rm. 315 CCB
– Review of current county policies regarding denial of service and legal research on that policy, plus stories shared and more review of policies from the jail and then reviewing more policies . . .
5:30 p.m. PERSONNEL & FINANCE COMMITTEE…Rm. 310 CCB
– The discussion of interest to me is the CDBG funding and “current budget situation” and a budget schedule (I can’t believe they don’t have one!)
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2009
5:00 p.m. HEALTH & HUMAN NEEDS COMMITTEE …Rm. 310 CCB

– 2010 Budget

No items of interest.
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2009
1:00 p.m. PUBLIC SAFETY-Communications Interoperability Governance Steering Committee …Rm. GR-22 CCB
– Radio’s – how are they going to work and who’s going to pay for them. (Note the City of Madison’s interest in this. Well, ok, you can’t cuz there aren’t any agenda materials)
5:30 p.m. Food Security and Urban Agriculture Work Meeting …2202 S. Park St.
Harambee Center
– This might be interesting, but I can’t tell from the agenda and don’t know what they are reviewing.
5:45 p.m. SOLID WASTE & RECYCLING COMMISSION…Public Works Conf. Rm.
1919 Alliant Energy Center Way
– This might be interesting under discussion items – Landfill Tonnages, 2010 Budget Items, State Legislative Updates (SB 107 – Electronics Recycling, AB 299 – Hg Sale Ban), Pellitteri Waste Transfer Station Update
7:00 p.m. CAPITAL AREA REGIONAL PLANNING COMMISSION…Rm. 315 CCB
– Does this sound fishy to you?
“Consideration of temporary withdrawal from Wisconsin Brownfields Coalition and
authorization to apply to the US Environmental Protection Agency for a FY2010
community-wide Brownfields Assessment Grant of $400,000 (actionable item)”
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9, 2009
9:30 a.m. ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE…RM. 310 CCB (No agenda, so I don’t know if its of interest – Ooops, I found it here (click on agendas, then the date), with one item of interest, I think? “Establish economic development priorities amongst final identified. Discuss
implementation activities and a timeline.” Sounds like they are working on their Economic Development Plan – I hope its better than the city’s!)
2:30 p.m. ENVIRONMENTAL COUNCIL … 9046 St. Rd. 19, Town of Berry, Town Hall, Mazomanie
– Budget Discussion
