Here’s what I find of interest for this week . . .
Monday, August 24, 2009
4:30 PM BOARD OF ESTIMATES ROOM 260 MMB
– GMCVB tries to justify itself
– Expanding Mad-City Broadband service
but I didn’t see how long it would take to make it city-wide.
– Removing requirement for professional staff to live in Dane County and the penalty for moving outside of Dane County
– Plastic Bag Recycling Program
– Police Overtime down a little bit for 1st half of year
– TIF for Danisco . . . who doesn’t need it. You know, the whole poker game. I’m shocked they’re not going into closed session, they rarely don’t do that with TIF deals.
– Burr Oaks Senior Housing Plan
– Expanding the Southwest side Industrial TIF district
– Creating the Northside TIF district
– Using the Affordable Housing Trust Fund to fix the section 8 issue, which has subsequently been solved. Well, except for August, I hope someone asks what happened there when they got more money than they need.
– Annual Report on City’s financial health, lookin’ relatively well
– 2nd Quarter budget report – PILOT up, Room tax down, building permit revenue down, ticket revenue up, investment income down, ambulance fees down, state recycling aids down, TIF revenues more than expected.
– Treasurer’s briefing on investments
– Stimulus update
4:45 PM LANDMARKS COMMISSION ROOM LL-110 MMB
– Edgewater – looks like they finally submitted additional plans needed for Landmarks Commission, but I’m not sure they had enough time to review it. I’d expect it to get referred tonight. (Note room change)
Tuesday, August 25, 2009
4:30 PM WATER UTILITY BOARD 119 E. OLIN AVE, ROOM A & B
– Too much sodium in 3 wells
6:00 PM BURR OAKS SENIOR HOUSING ALDER STEERING WORKGROUP 825 HUGHES PLACE, SOUTH DISTRICT POLICE HEADQUARTERS
BURR OAKS
– My only question is why are they meeting after Plan Commission has approved it and BOE is approving it on Monday – and still reviewing changes.
Wednesday, August 26, 2009
6:00 PM DOWNTOWN MADISON INC. INFORMATIONAL SESSION 615 E. WASHINGTON AVE.
– I’d love to see the handouts for this meeting. Too bad they aren’t available. It should be about what people expect from downtown, if they feel safe etc.
Thursday, August 27, 2009
5:00 PM ALLIED AREA TASK FORCE 2313 ALLIED DRIVE, REVIVAL RIDGE APTS, COMMUNITY ROOM
– Allied/Dunn Marsh Landlord Association Update – I only point this out because its Nick Dorneau who refuses to rent to people on Section 8, contrary to County and City law. I hope someone asks him about this.
