Thursday Morning Round Up

Here’s what I found of interest from that last 24 hours or so.

RISKY BUSINESS
Biolink and TIF and the city’s risk. Not my words, for those of you who want to accuse me of being negative.

MT HOREB CITY ADMINISTRATOR FIGHTS ON
Instead of firing him, like many expected, they postponed the decision. And, they didn’t go into closed session to make the decision. Interesting that was the desire of the person being discussed.

MG&E RECEIVES GRANT
Does this mean rates won’t go up? Or does the grant just go to the bottom line to make the shareholders more money?

GIO’S GARDEN
Fundraiser at Scatz tonight for a respite center for parents of kids with special needs. You can find out about events like this an others under the events tab. If you have something to add, or more info to add about your event we highlighted, let us know by emailing us at forwardlookout (at) gmail.com.

HOW TO GET YOUR OWN PRIVATE INTERCHANGE
This does sound a bit out of whack. Seriously, who is going to use this and how often?

A CHALLENGE TO SCHUMACHER AND PHAM-REMMELE
Why are you questioning the public market and not the $200,000 for East Washington that so far has yielded next to nothing? And where will your vote be on BioLink? I don’t mind the opposition, I mind the hypocrisy.

UNBELIEVABLE!
Who’s the most notorious late person on the Council, Mike Verveer, of course. Who wasn’t one of the people who blew quorum at the ALRC meeting on Monday? Amazingly, Verveer. Why, he knows, in fact I think he has some kind of 6th sense, when quorum is an issue and makes it a priority. Who was missing? Schumacher (no surprises, I think he should get his pay docked for all the meetings his misses while he’s out of town), Bidar-Sielaff, Farley and Landgraf. The student, even tho classes are not in session, was also there, despite the opposition of the industry to the position.

HULSEY ON SLY
Wow, the ego on this guy is amazing. He’s talking out state legislation he proposed when not even a legislator, throws Steve Hiniker from 1,000 Friends under the bus (presumably because he endorsed Dianne Hesselbein), claims he has an A+ environmental record even tho he’s sold out, and then supports the sheriff’s policy on calling ICE if you can’t prove you are a citizen. Brett Hulsey, may I see your papers? And your reasoning that the only reason she voted against the sheriff was because she was running for Assembly and “pandering” is absurd, conventional wisdom would have her taking your position, instead, she looked at the facts and the problems and stuck with her principles. Ever heard of them? I couldn’t listen to the rest, and didn’t listen to the thing I was really looking for, the discussion about the packer player rape, I heard Sly was in rare form again, but I didn’t have the stomach, I’ll save that for tomorrow. (NOTE: In the interest of full disclosure, Hulsey did doors in the 2nd District for Maniaici, but our differences of opinion go back years.)

CARPC MEETING TONIGHT
Verona will be watching the vote.

That’s it, seems like there should be more with all those city meetings, but not much coverage of them for the round up.
