Thursday morning Round Up

This is so much easier when I keep caught up!

ADDED: IS THE MAYOR A BULLY?
He doesn’t think so.

EDGEWATER TIF IN TROUBLE?
Wow, undecided committee members. That seems unlikely. However, maybe its because they haven’t yet heard the presentation from staff? Or had a chance to ask their questions? That will happen today at noon.

CRITICAL OF POLICE DEPARTMENT
I never thought I’d see it from the Wisconsin State Journal. I thought the police were unquestionable. Good to see I’m wrong. They have a good point.

DANE COUNTY BUDGET HEARING
One, outside of Madison every year. This year, Black Earth wins.

MADISON IN DISARRAY!!
Can you feel it? Did you notice? Silly headlines.

DOUGH!
Nice story about a local business.

DANE COUNTY, AGAIN, FORTUNATE
Unemployment numbers down again . . .

WHOA! HOW’D THAT HAPPEN?
Ben Manski got the MTI endorsement, not one of the Democrats! That’s pretty amazing. I know there was a press conference yesterday, but I haven’t seen any news. Many people were asking him how it happened. His answer was simple. They thought he was the best candidate.

NEGATIVE HULSEY
There’s not much love for Hulsey on the progressive end of the spectrum . . . partially because of his political tactics. Interesting comments here.

HESSELBEIN
Just to be clear, I have endorsed Dianne Hesselbein. I did that before Manski got into the race, because I felt she was the best candidate. And I still believe that for the Democratic Primary. After the primary, my endorsement goes to Manski. Dianne has a cool fundraiser at the Cardinal tonight for those interested. They are doing the old Barber’s Closet drinks.

ADD JAMES MADISON PARK
Yesterday I told you about the Parks Department wanting to know about geese in Tenney Park, now, they want to know about James Madison Park too.

Hi all,
I’ve asked Russ to also look at the geese that have been appearing in James Madison Park. Especially for those of you who find yourselves in the park on a frequent or daily basis, Russ would be interested in hearing your observations (number of geese, their location and time of day you see them present).

His contact info is included below.
Thanks!
Bridget

To review, the questions are as follows:

Greetings All,
Russ Hefty from Madison Parks has been directed to develop a goose management report for the Madison Park Commission. He is also considering a public meeting in late summer/early fall in the neighborhood, but he wants to assess level of interest in the issue.

He is first seeking neighborhood/individual input and perceptions from park users. Russ is interested in the following questions…
1. Are geese causing conflicts on paths or roads?
2. Are goose feces impacting park usage and activities?
3. Are they an issue along the water at Tenney Beach or Giddings Park?
4. Are they an issue in other areas of the park or along the river?
5. Would the neighbors like to see more or fewer geese? Or is the geese population just right?
6. Are geese more prevalent in the Tenney Park area at certain times of the year?
7. Do you think the geese population has been changing in Tenney over the past 5-10 years?

This is your opportunity to inform the report and help shape the Goose Management Policy. The policy will be heard before the Madison Park Commission this fall.

Contact Russ if you have any questions about this survey.

Thanks for your input.

Ed

That’s it for now, but if you’re reading this before 8:30 am, I might add a few items. If I do, it will say ADDED in the title.
