Subject: City of Madison v. Dane CountyThe Mayor asked me to send you copies of the court documents from the lawsuit last week. Attached are the Summons and Complaint, Affidavit of Joel Plant, Motion for Temporary Restraining Order, and Temporary Injunction issued by Judge Colas.
The next steps are for the City and County to file more formal documents and briefs so the court may move to a final judgment. The following schedule was established yesterday:
March 5: City files for summary judgment, with supporting papers.
March 19: County responds.
March 26: City reply to County filings.
April 16: Hearing and likely decision by the Court.Let me know by phone call or separate email if you have any questions.
Yeah, I got a question or two, does the council ever get to discuss this? How about the public, do they get to weigh in? How much is this going to cost us? What’s this really all about, cuz it looks pretty silly at this point. If you’re trying to make a political statement, what is it? Good thing that next deer hunting trip they take together isn’t til next fall.
