So, I don’t get behind again . . .
CONGRATS TO ST VINCENT DEPAUL
Raising $4M is quite the feat. And quite needed given that in 4 years the need for food pantry assistance doubled.
METRO DRIVERS TO JOIN POLICE UNION?
Interesting. And the police union has done well for themselves.
UW TO CHARGE FOR FREE BUS PASSES
Or charge more for parking? Why, cuz the city is raising their contract fees by 21%. Or because they have been borrowing to build parking ramps. It’ll be interesting to see how this works out and how it impacts bus ridership. Funny, the fare increase on the poor wasn’t taken as seriously as the smaller increase for the University. Hmmmm.
MANUFACTURING KEY TO ECONOMIC RECOVERY?
The city has said manufacturing is not the way of the future for economic recovery or goals for economic development. So I find the report interesting. They have decided our future is in medical, biotech and tech industries.
NOT ANOTHER EDGEWATER
I don’t think it could be, but good goal. This just doesn’t have the lobbying power, the labor unions, the TIF request, the huge conflict with neighborhood plans, ad soooooo much more. And hey, here’s a novel idea “she wants to make sure project neighbors have a say before the proposal starts the city approval process.” She, being Alder Rummel. And neighbors being part of the process instead of excluded. I think that will go a long way.
WORLD WIDE PHOTO WALK
Right here in Madison.
NOT ALL BIKE RIDING EMBRACED BY CITY
Or the cops. Tho, I have to say, it does sound a little unfair the way they were told one thing, then ticketed for others. No consistency seems to be the problem.
MISLEADING
This sounded goofy to me, so I had to look. And it was what I thought it was . . . funny they don’t say who their members are more clearly on their sparse website. You can check here to get a flavor. Always. ask. who. and why.
THE SMALL JOYS IN LIFE
Things you have time to do and share when you’re no longer an alder.
ECONOMY AND NEWSPAPERS DOING SO WELL, THEY DON’T NEED ADVERTISING?
This is interesting from Madison Urban Ministry:
Hi All,
We’re just communicating with you to share a potentially disturbing development with the Celebrations section of the State Journal. We want to put an ad for Mentoring Connections on the front page (we have the money and Celebrations has taken our money before) but they are suggesting a program for children of incarcerated parents is not suitable for the cover. Hmmm. We’ll keep you posted.
I can’t wait to hear how they explain this.
“she wants to make sure project neighbors have a say before the proposal starts the city approval process.” She, being Alder Rummel.
If this is the case then why is it already posted on the City Planning website?
