Union Cab to Provide Free Rides To and From Polling Places

March 22, 2011–Madison, WI. Union Cab of Madison Co-operative’s Board of Directors has authorized free rides to and from Madison, WI polling places on April 5, 2011. President Butch Hanson noted that “Co-operatives exist as democratic organizations. At Union Cab, democracy is part of our identity, our values and our mission. We believe that part of creating a democratic environment for our membership is encouraging a democratic environment in our community.” Polls open at 7:00 am and will remain open until 8:00 pm. Union Cab encourages people to either vote early at the City Clerk office, or plan accordingly to allow enough time to vote before or after work. To find out where to vote, people should use the City of Madison Clerk’s office at http://www.cityofmadison.com/election/voter/Where.cfm.

Union Cab will announce more details on how to participate in our Democracy in Motion program next week.

  1. I just want to thank Union Cab for the free ride to the polls on the 5th. You folks are awesome! I had two great drivers and was picked up at my door and delivered back home, all in about a half hour. I should mention that I do not have a car ($$$) and I do have a problem walking very far at this time. So, this service to our community was a precious blessing. Thank you, Union Cab! — Dave D.
