Video Tsunami (Part 1)

So, I’ve had a Facebook Live tragedy of some sort that I temporarily stopped trying to fix, so I’ve gone old school and am just video taping and uploading to YouTube.  But then, I had another problem in that I ran out of hard drive space . . . so I got behind (Bought 8 more Terabytes so I should be good for a while!).  And since I didn’t timely upload the videos, many people are asking where they went.  To simplify things, here’s the first wave .  . . more to come . . .

Since I hadn’t live-streamed anything for about 6 months, something went haywire and I spent a week trying to figure it out and then gave up . . . I will conquer this problem, but I moved on for a bit. Sadly, then I ran into new new issues and I’m about to return to figuring it out, because I forgot how much work it is to do it this way! Anyways, here’s my first wave of videos. As soon as the rest upload I’ll do a part two . . . sadly, I didn’t blog some of this when I intended to because of the aforementioned issues, but I have the video and its uploaded, so I thought I should share. Some of it is of interest, some of it I was just there waiting to get other video so I taped it. I broke several meetings up so people could just watch the parts they are interested in. So, some of these videos are longer, some are shorter. Also, since I didn’t blog right away, some of it I’m not sure what the significance of it is at the moment – but for those who wanted to attend particular meetings and couldn’t, you’ll find it useful. Some of it is for blog posts in the future, particularly the TFOGS (Task Force on the Structure of City Government) but I know people want to see the meetings they missed. So, here’s what I have at the moment.

I’m still having that odd spacing problem that shows no signs of existing as I’m editing . . . so you’ll have to do some scrolling . .. . doesn’t look like that in the editor!  And there’s nothing I can see in the html . . .

We have a new governor and new opportunities . . . kinda, we still also have Republicans controlling both houses.  So, what is the city going to spend their time lobbying the state on?  This is from the Common Council Executive Committee Meeting on 1/8/19

This was an odd little part of the Parks Commission meeting about a walk/run event that will shut down the park, but it was interesting because apparently the City owns Quann Park, but gave the County the right to control it for 50 years . . .  what does that mean with the Alliant Energy Center plans that are in the works?  Parks Commission Meeting 1/9/19

Not much of note here, the council has already approved this.  Not much discussion.  Parks Commission Meeting 1/9/19

Another Park we’re privatizing . . . Parks Commission Meeting 1/9/19

Lots of opposition to the new Master Plan for the Park, this should be on the next Parks Agenda. Parks Commission Meeting 1/9/19

Should Olbrich allow dogs?  And musicians?   Parks Commission Meeting 1/9/19

Sadly, they didn’t really discussion the recommendations in the report that ask the police to stop overpricing Hip Hop venues.   Public Safety Review Committee 1/9/19

The police version of what is going on at Tree Lane – not a very balanced discussion.  Public Safety Review Committee 1/9/19

This is from the Common Council Executive Committee Meeting on 1/8/19

Should the council president serve for 1 year, or two?  Should we decide now, or wait for the Task Force on City Government?  This from the Common Council Executive Committee Meeting on 1/8/19

TFOGS = Task Force on Government Structure – I have most of the meetings from January, except for 1.25 of the meetings where I had a video mishap – no audio!  Rookie mistake.  This is the subcommittee on Board, Committees and Commissions looking at if they should eliminate committees and how to better structure and support them – and make them meaningful.  1/10/19

Common Council Subcommittee of the Task Force on the Government Structure – 1/11/19

Full Task Force on Government Structure, 1/16/19

Subcommittee on Board, Committees and Commissions – 1/17/19

Bring your dog to work!  Yup, that’s what the Mayor’s office is spending their time working on – ignoring the 35% of city employees who don’t like the policy because of allergies and phobias and cleanliness issues – not to mention the huge distraction.  City-county Liaison Committee 2/4/19

TFOGS Subcommittee on Common Council 2/1/19

And there is more coming . . . . . . . more CCEC, TFOGS and Homeless Issues . . . plus I think I’m going to start a set of videos with bloopers . . .
