First United Methodist Church will host a warming center for families and single women tomorrow. Here’s the details.
One might ask why they need to do this when we have the new day resource center. The answer is simple. The building is too small and they didn’t provide enough family space.
First United Methodist Church, in downtown Madison at 203 Wisconsin Avenue, walloped their doors Friday, January 25, 2019 at 8:00AM to host a warming center for families and single women experiencing homelessness. The hours will be 9:00AM to 4:30 PM. A continental breakfast will be served at 8:30 AM, and lunch at noon.
The purpose of the warming center will be to provide a safe, hospitable space for families and single women in light of the National Weather Service Wind Chill Advisory and Hazardous Weather Outlook including cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero in Dane County.
The Beacon will shuttle families and single women from The Salvation Army at 8:00AM on Friday, January 25 to First United Methodist Church. The Salvation Army will open early Friday, January 25 at 3:00PM to accommodate early check-in. The Beacon will shuttle families and single women from First United Methodist Church to The Salvation Army at 3:00PM.
First United Methodist Church is grateful to partner with The Beacon, The Salvation Army and Porchlight to help coordinate efforts for the safety of all who are experiencing homelessness.
