What will our new County Board Look Like?

There are several retirements and tomorrow is the filing deadline for candidates. At the moment is looks like . . .
Bold = incumbent has all their paperwork in and no challenger (25 of 39)
Italics = incumbent has no challenger in and just needs their nomination papers (3 of 39)
Red = retirements

There could potentially be 9 new people on the county board, if everyone finishes getting their paperwork in.

Currently there will be races in 5 districts.
– 3 (or 4?) incumbents have challengers – Al Matano, Ronn Ferrell and Patrick Downing plus Jamie Kuhn was appointed to Dave deFelice’s seat when he left mid-term, so I guess she’s the incumbent.
– There are 5 retirements, but there is only one race to replace the retiree – there will be potentially 4 people who just walk on to the county board never having to run a race unless a challenger files tomorrow – and assuming someone files for O’Loughlin’s seat!

Hopefully – we see some surprises tomorrow! Otherwise we will have races for office in only 13% of the seats on the county board. I suppose the number could also go down if people don’t complete their paperwork.
