I’m one of those people who like to wait for the last minute to decide who I would vote for. I like to see the campaign finance reports to see who’s really supporting people and see what last minute “news” comes out of the campaigns. I also like to make sure there aren’t last minute shinanigans. So, its about 50 hours before the polls close and here’s my choices for the upcoming primaries.
Madison Mayor
for those of you wondering, if there were ranked choice voting or instant run off voting, this would be my votes.
2. Toriana Pettaway
ugh . . .
3. Paul Soglin
and then it gets even harder . . .
4. Raj Shukla – Lacks experience.
5. Mo Cheeks – If you need to know why look here. Plus, he just didn’t do anything as an alder.
I have lots of feeling about this race and I wish you could be voting for me. But alas, that wasn’t in the cards this time around. So . . . I’ll be voting for Satya Rhodes-Conway. Besides Soglin, she has the most experience and knows how to get things done in city hall. But she has a sense of fairness and awareness of what true equity means, not just lip-service. If Soglin would only listen and be collaborative and work with people, I could vote for him . . . and I might have to if Raj or Mo make it through the primary.
Madison School Board, Seat 3
Madison School Board, Seat 4
Madison School Board, Seat 5
Honestly, I waffle, a lot. I’ll decide when I get there. Ananda Mirilli or TJ Mertzmertz. I go back and forth. I’m guessing I end up voting for TJ because he taught me everything I know about the school board and . . . but I still might change my mind again.
District 3
I don’t know enough about this race to choose.
District 12
DIANE FARSETTAta – all the way!!!!!!!
District 13
TAG EVERS – all the way!!!!!
District 15
GRANT FOSTER – all the way!!!!
So other people who don’t have primaries, so you can’t vote for them on Tuesday, but I’m looking forward to supporting between now and the general election are:
District 2 – Patrick Heck – this is my district and I feel very, very strongly about this one!!!!
District 7 – Badri Lankella
District 8 – Matthew Mitnick
District 19 – Keith Furman
District 20 – Christian Albouras
And of course, I support Mike Verveer (4), Marsha Rummel (6) and Rebecca Kemble (18)! They are all unopposed.
