The Wisconsin Assembly passed the \"Keep Democrats From Voting in Wisconsin\" bill in a 60-35 vote (all republicans and inexplicably 2 democrats) voted to pass this through the assembly. They were so sure about this bill that they summarily dismissed every single amendment brought forth by the democrats!
The problem is, there is still one seat open, Wisconsin\'s 48th Assembly district is currently unrepresented in the assembly.
Dane County Executive Joe Parisi was the previous officeholder, but he resigned the seat almost two months ago. A special election needs to be called by the Governor but he has not indicated any interest in doing so. Until that happens it kind of makes “election defenders” like Scott Suder, seem a little disingenuous.
“I am pleased to see Wisconsin joins so many others across the country in protecting and ensuring the integrity of our election process,” Suder said. “Free and fair elections are the staple of our democracy and they should be defended at all costs.”
Of course we know that the Republicans in the Assembly, have a history of not wanting everyone in Wisconsin to be represented. It is more important for them to pass their extreme nationwide A.L.E.C. agenda than it is to allow the citizens of Wisconsin a voice. Why should the Ward’s in the 48th district follow this voter repression law when they were not allowed to have their voices heard on the subject?
