Nation’s largest industrial union backs ‘clear candidate’ to fight for working families

VERONA – Former State Senator and Wisconsin Democratic Party Chairman Joe Wineke (D-Verona) today announced the endorsement of the United Steelworkers International Union (USW) in the race for Dane County Executive. As the largest industrial union in North America, the Steelworkers represent more than 1.2 million active members and retirees in the steel, paper, forestry, rubber, energy, and manufacturing industries, as well as public, healthcare, and service employees.

”Joe’s involvement and leadership display and define his dedication to the working people of south-central Wisconsin,” said Michael Bolton, Director of USW’s District 2. “It is clear that Joe Wineke is the candidate willing to stand and fight with us, and the Steelworkers are proud to endorse his candidacy for Dane County Executive.”

“As a longtime union member, organizer, and elected official, I’ve dedicated my entire career to the issues that affect my brothers and sisters in labor,” said Wineke. “I’m proud to have the support of the hard-working men and women of the Steelworkers in the fight for Dane County’s future.”
